Yuzvendra Chahal breaks Jasprit Bumrah’s record to become India’s most successful bowler in T20I
Team India’s wrist spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has made a record by taking a wicket in the first T20 International match against England. By this, Yuzvendra Chahal is now the highest wicket-taker for India in the T20 International format.
Yuzvendra Chahal has achieved this milestone by breaking Jasprit Bumrah’s record. Chahal now holds 60 wickets for India, which is the highest by any bowler in T20 Internationals. Earlier, Yuzvendra Chahal was equal to Jasprit Bumrah with 59 wickets, but now he has surpassed Bumrah.
Bumrah has taken 59 wickets in 50 matches so far. Bumrah is not part of the Indian team in the T20 series against England. Chahal and Bumrah are followed by Ravichandran Ashwin, who has taken 52 wickets in 46 matches. It is known that Sri Lankan fast bowler Lasith Malinga holds the record for the highest number of wickets in T20 internationals in the world. He has taken 107 wickets in 84 matches.
The top five wicket-taker for India in T20I format are, Yuzvendra Chahal with 60 wickets, below him with just one wicket is Jasprit Bumrah of 59 wickets, followed by Ravichandran Ashwin with 52 wickets, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar with 41 wickets, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja with 39 wickets each.
Talking about Yuzvendra Chahal, he has a record of taking 5 wickets in T20 Internationals. Chahal’s best bowling figure so far in the T20 International is 6 wickets with just 25 runs.
In the first T20 against England, India scored 124 runs losing 7 wickets. Apart from Shreyas Iyer’s 67, no Indian batsman was able to stay on the pitch and face the England bowlers. In response, England lost two wickets and achieved the target with 27 balls remaining. Chahal may have taken wickets in the match, but he proved to be quite expensive.
