Mumbai Women’s cricket team won the 50-over match in just four balls
Sometimes a batsman plays record-breaking innings in a very short ball and sometimes a bowler breaks the opponent’s collarbone with his penetrating bowling. Here, the players of the Mumbai Women’s Team have done a unique feat. The Nagaland women’s team were bowled out for 17 in 50 overs. Not only did Mumbai stop there, but they also won the match in just 4 balls while batting.
Nagaland and Mumbai faced each other in the Senior Women’s ODI Trophy. Mumbai broke the backbone of the Nagaland women’s team who came to bat first in this match. Nagaland women’s team got all out in 17.4 overs. None of the women batsmen in Nagaland’s full innings could reach double figures. From Mumbai, Sayali Satghare gave only 5 runs and sent 7 Nagaland batsmen to their dugout.
The Mumbai openers, Esha Ojha and Vrushali Bhagat who came on the field to complete the 18-run target set by Nagaland gave Mumbai the victory in the first four balls. Esha Ojha hit 13 runs off four balls with three fours while Vrushali Bhagat smashed a six off one ball. Mumbai won the match by 296 balls.
This is not the first time with Nagaland. Nagaland’s under-19 team was playing against Kerala. Nagaland had scored just 2 runs in 17 overs in that match. One of the runs was from Wide ball. Nine of Nagaland’s 10 batsmen did not even open an account. In reply, Kerala won the match on the first ball.
