To play FIH pro league matches, the Indian Hockey team leaves for Argentina
On Wednesday, the Indian men’s hockey team flew to Buenos Aires for upcoming FIH Pro League matches against Olympic champions Argentina on April 11 and 12.Hockey India took to Twitter to share photos of the players and support staff with the caption: ‘next stop, Argentina!’In the comments section, please give all of your best wishes to #TeamIndia!”
As part of their training for the Tokyo Olympics, the Indian team will play two warm-up matches against the home team on April 6 and 7, followed by two more practice matches on April 13 and 14.Captain Manpreet Singh had opted out of the previous Europe tour because of personal reasons while his comrades and experienced drag flicks specialist Rupinder Pal Singh as well as Varun Kumar, who had missed the earlier tour owing to rehab will also return in the mix for the India Team.
Manpreet who leads the 22 member squad includes Vice-captain Harmanpreet Singh, goalkeepers PR Sreejesh and Krishna Bahadur Pathak. Amit Rohidas, Gurinder Singh, Vivek Sagar Prasad, Harmanpreet Singh, Birendra Lakra, Surender Kumar, Raj Kumar Pal, Shamsher Singh, Gurjant Singh, Nilakanta Sharma, Dilpreet Singh, Mandeep Singh, Hardik Singh, and Lalit Kumar Upadhyay are the unchanged players from the previous tour.The team also included players like Jaskaran Singh, Sumit, and Shilanand Lakra who will be playing their first international match in over a year.
