Thalaivi Trailer: Kangana Ranaut Shines in Jayalalithaa’s Biopic

Kangana Ranaut who received her fourth National award on 22nd March for her performance in 2019 released Panga and Manikarnika shared the much awaited trailer of the film. On the occasion of her 34th birthday Kangana treated her fans with the trailer of her upcoming most anticipated and exciting film ‘Thalaivi’. Thalaivi is presented by Vibri Motion Pictures, Karma Media Entertainment and Zee Studios in association with Ghotic Entertainment and Sprint Films. It is produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shailesh R Singh and co-produced by HiteshThakkar and Thirmal Reddy. The film is directed by AL Vijay and penned by famous writer KV Vijayendra Prasad and Shailesh S Singh. Thalaivi is all set to release worldwide in hindi, tamil, telugu by Zee studios on 23rd April, 2021.The trailer shows Jayalalithaa’s rise in film industry to the shameful act by some politician who had almost disrobed her when the house was in session. Ranaut’s Jayalalitjaa compares her disrobing to the cheer haran of Draupadi in Mahabharata and her dialogue delivery during that particular sequence is, perhaps, the most powerful moment of the trailer. Also starring Arvind Swami as MG Ramachandran, Prakash Raj as M Karunidhi, Jisshu Sengupta as Shobhan Babu and Bhagyashree Asjayalalitjaa’s mother Sandhya. Poorna and Madhoo play pivotal roles in the film. Kangana has taken a lot of effort to get fit for the character. Kangna gained 20kg to get into the skin of Jayalalithaa. For the actor, the film is her ‘most ambitious project’. Earlier she mentioned every possible thing she did to execute the character of Jayalalithaa to perfection. Taking to Twitter, she wrote, “I played the first superhuman girl on screen, thanks to my body, a rare combination of dainty yet strong looking. In my 30s I had to gain 20kg for Thalaivi and do Bharatnatyam, it left my back severally damaged but no bigger gratification than to play a role to perfection. Actor also followed the hectic schedule while keeping up with Jayalalithaa’s look through her life. The team as employed makeup artists from Hollywood to ace the looks for Kangana and also for Arvind Swamy to look like to their onscreen character. Samantha Akkineni, Mrunal Thakur and Lakshmi Manchu lauded Kangana for her perfect.As soon as the trailer was out, fans started praising her performance and said that the film will definitely bring Kangana another National award.
