Thalaiva to be honoured with The most Prestigious Award of Indian Cinema

The veteran Artist of South Indian Cinema Shivaji Rao Gaekwad, popularly known to us as Rajnikanth, to be bestowed with the most Prestigious Award of Indian Cinema ‘Dada Saheb Phalke Award’.The announcement was made by Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar at his Delhi residence.
” Happy to announce #Dadasaheb Phalke award for 2019 to one of the greatest actors in history in history of Indian Cinema Rajnikant ji. His contribution as an actor, producer, and screenwriter has been iconic”, Mr. Javadekar Tweeted.
This is the 51st Dadasaheb Phalke Award, instituted in 1969, Dadasaheb Phalke Award is the Highest pretige award of Indian Cinema. It is annually presented at National Film Award Ceremony by the Directorate of Film Festivals, An organisation of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting .
Amitabh Bachchan was the last person to receive this award in 2018, while Rajnikant is being the 12th South Indian to receive this Award. Legends like Dr.Rajkumar, Akkineni, K Balachander, Nageshwar Rao have been awarded before.
Rajnikanth is an Indian actor who primarily works in Tamil cinema. Apart from acting, he is also known as producer, and screenwriter. He had won many awards of cinema, not to forget, the legend had been awarded with the Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan as well.He has been Entertaining the country with his incredible work from more than 45 years.
Considering his contribution in Indian Cinema Industry, the jury of Dadasaheb Phalke Award decided to honour him. The panel of jury consist of singer Asha Bhosale, Director Subhash Ghai, Actor Mohanlal, and so on.
Many big names of the country came forward through social media and Congratulated him.Prime Minister of the Country , Narendra Modi tweeted “Popular across generations, a body of work few can boast of, diverse roles and an endearing personality …that’s shri @rajnikanth ji for you.”
