Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are not going to play in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) Quarter final for the first time since 2004-05.

Ronaldo’s Juventus were eliminated in the round of 16 by FC Porto. The match aggregate was tied but Porto won by the away goals rule. Ronaldo was criticised for that match.

Whereas, Barcelona failed to win against PSG where in the first leg PSG scored four goals against Barca’s one goal. In the second leg, the aggregate was 5-2 which kicked out Barcelona from the UCL.

Messi scored a goal but failed to score a penalty as Keylor Navas stopped it.

In the 2004-05 season both the legends were not able to qualify. Messi appeared for Barcelona in just two games and were defeated by Shakhtar Donetsk by 2-0 in the group stage.

On the other side, Ronaldo was in Manchester United. Ronaldo played seven games for the Reds but later the team was eliminated by AC Milan in the round of 16 by 1-0.

Cristiano Ronaldo is a Portuguese footballer who now plays for Serie A club Juventus. He is the captain of the Portugal National Team. Ronaldo has won five Ballon d’Or awards, four European Golden Shoes. He won 31 major trophies in his career so far. Cristiano Ronaldo holds the record of highest Goal scorer.

He has scored 311 goals for Real Madrid, 84 goals for Manchester United and at present 72 goals for Juventus.

Lionel Messi is an Argentine footballer. He is the captain of FC Barcelona club and Argentina’s national team.

Messi has won six Ballon’dOr awards and six European Golden Shoes so far. 

From the start of his career he played with Barcelona and is still present in the same club. Messi has scored 463 goals for Barcelona and 71 goals for Argentina so far.
