India’s world champion PV Sindhu lost in the Semifinals
India’s world champion PV Sindhu lost in the semifinals of the All England Open Badminton Championships. Sindhu lost 21-17, 21-9 in straight sets to Thailand’s Pornpawee Chochuwong in the semifinals. Sindhu had earlier beaten Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi in the quarterfinals. The match between Yamaguchi and Sindhu lasted one hour and 16 minutes and finally, Sindhu won 16-21, 21-16, 21-19.
The Indian Ace had a shaky start, while Thailand’s Chochuwong did not hesitate and showed a quick speed on the court which helped her to widen the score gap between the two. PV Sindhu, who is the world’s number seven, lost the semi-final earlier in the 2018 edition as well.
The Indian badminton players had to face a big defeat in the ongoing tournament in Birmingham, England. India’s Lakshya Sen lost in the quarterfinals of the All England Badminton Championships on Friday. In the men’s singles, Lakshya Sen has lost.
“I think it was her day, everything she was hitting was on the line, I just couldn’t do anything about it. Overall, I should’ve controlled my unforced errors, maybe things could’ve been different,” Sindhu said.
“I knew it was going to be a good match, she’s not an easy player.”
“Everybody aims to be in the final, it’s over for now so I have to learn from my mistakes and take the positives,” Sindhu added.
