Maharashtra defeated Kerala 37-07 to advance to the quarterfinals of the Senior Men’s National Kabaddi Championship. Now Maharashtra will face the winning team between Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
Maharashtra got off to a strong start in the match which was played on the mat at Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar International Bonded Sports Complex. Maharashtra took a 13-04 lead in the 9th minute when Siddharth Desai picked up the remaining two to give the lead. Again in the 12th minute, Pankaj Mohite made a super raid and took the remaining three to give another 22-04 lead.
Again in the 19th minute, Maharashtra gave the third salt and extended the lead to 33-04. The interval occurred on the same multiplier.
After the break, Maharashtra rested Siddharth Desai and Rishank Devadiga. But a few minutes later, Kerala conceded defeat and withdrew. Siddharth Desai, Pankaj Mohite’s remarkable climbs, Girish Ernak’s and Shubham Shinde’s strong support made them a big winner.
