India finished their campaign in the ISSF with the most medals.
India finished their campaign with the most medals, winning two more gold medals on the final day of the ISSF World Cup Shooting Championship. India, however, could not add to the 15 Olympic quotas it had earlier won in the Shooting World Cup. India topped the tournament with 15 gold medals and a total of 30 medals. Which includes nine silver and six bronze medals.
In the last match of the World Cup, India’s Prithviraj Tondaiman, Lakshay Sheoran, Kynan Chenai won gold medals in the men’s team trap event. Earlier, Shreyasi Singh, Rajeshwari Kumari, and Manisha Keer clinched the gold by defeating Kazakhstan by 6-0 in the women’s team trap final.
Vijayveer Sidhu, Adarsh Singh, and Gurpreet Singh gained silver medals in the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol event. In the men’s team trap final, Slovakia’s Michal Slamka, Adrian Drobny, and Filip Marinov took a 2-0 lead. However, the Indian team came back and leveled the score at 2-2 and 4-4. The Indian shooters then took a 6-4 lead and won the match.
“I thought the home shooters would get the 16th quota for the Olympics,” said Raninder Singh, president of the National Rifle Association of India. But no matter, Vijayveer is still young. But, he did well. The confidence of the players has also been boosted, which is a good result of this tournament.
