FC Goa, Al Wahda AFC Champions League tie ends in stalemate
FC Goa continued their Historic start in the AFC Champions League group stage as they hold on the Al Wahda from the United Arab Emirates to a 0-0 draw in their Group E match played at the Fatorda Stadium in Goa on Saturday.Juan Ferrando’s team FC Goa have earned their second point in the AFC Champions League group stage after managing a similar result against Qatar’s club Al-Rayyan on Wednesday.
The Gaur’s looked more confident in the game compared to the first match as they created few really close chances for scoring a goal that was missing in the last match. Goa’s defense and Goalkeeper have impressed a lot along with mid-fielders as they don’t give enough space to the opposition to play their game. The forwards keep pressing continuously to win the ball that puts pressure on the other teams.
Juan Ferrando’s tactics of compact defense and hitting on counter-attack is working for the team till now. UAE side Al Wahda was left irritated by a great defensive display from Juan Ferrando’s men.He reacted to the game, saying, “We played with a very good team of course because it’s the Champions League. All the teams are the best in Asia. I am happy for some points in attack, we were better in the positional attack. I am happy, but this is a problem for all the teams, not just for me. The players are very tired.”“In the end, we need to change the plan about the tactics in defense, it’s very difficult. We need to improve more, we need to put a new target in our mind,” he further added.
FC Goa to play against Iranian Giant Perspolis F.C. on Tuesday. Perspolis F.C. is at the top of the group stage.
