The BCCI has informed the ICC that the Indian government is ready to issue visas to Pakistani players for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
The discussions that have been going on for the last several days have finally come to an end. Will the central government issue a visa to the Pakistan cricket team to come to India due to the strained relations between India and Pakistan? The question fell to the ICC. The BCCI has informed the ICC that the Indian government is ready to issue visas to Pakistani players and media after Friday’s meeting. So now Pakistan has a way to come to India for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021.
A BCCI official who attended the meeting informed the news agency about the decision. As the T20 World Cup is a global competition where all the teams participate. Therefore, Pakistani players and media have been allowed to come to India.
The meeting also discussed the organization of the competition against the backdrop of the coronavirus. Apart from this, the BCCI has also decided which fields will be used for the World Cup. The World Cup final will be held at the newly constructed Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The board has selected Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Dharamsala for the remaining matches.
India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral series for years due to political tensions between the two neighbors. The two teams face each other in the only ICC tournament. Despite repeated complaints from various quarters, no solution was found. Therefore, there is no doubt that the tension will be at the peak of the India-Pakistan match in the T20 World Cup.
Earlier, Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ehsan Mani had given an ultimatum to the BCCI till March 31 to clarify its position on the issue. In a meeting between the BCCI and the ICC on April 1, the BCCI had promised to resolve the issue within a month. A final decision on the matter has not yet been made. The decision will be made based on the coronavirus situation in October-November.
