Indian star shuttler Saina Nehwal’s fight at the Orleans Masters International Badminton Tournament is over. The Indian star shuttler, who is on the hunt for Olympics ranking points, lost in the semifinals of the tournament. In the women’s singles semis on Saturday, fourth seed Saina lost 17-21, 17-21 to Line Christophersen (Denmark). Although Saina sparkled in the fight which ended in 28 minutes, she faltered at crucial moments and lost the match.Indian doubles shuttlers, Krishna Prasad Garaga and Vishnu Vardhan Goud Panjala performed wonderfully. They are one step away from winning the title in their first tournament together at the international level. In the men’s doubles semifinals on Saturday, the Vishnuvardhan Goud-Krishna Prasad duo won 21-17, 21-17 over the Hemming-Steven Stallwood (England) pair. The Vishnu-Krishna duo will play Ben Lane-Sean Vendy (England) in the final.This is the first tournament in which Vishnu and Krishna have entered. The 20-year-old Vishnu played with various partners at the junior level. Along with Ishan Bhatnagar, he reached the final of the Bulgaria Junior Tournament in 2019.
In the women’s doubles semifinals, Sikki Reddy and Ashwini Ponnappa (India) lost 18-21, 9-21 to top seed Jongkolphan-Rawinda Prajongjai (Thailand). In the mixed doubles semifinals, Ashwini Ponnappa-Dhruv Kapila (India) lost 9-21, 23-21, 7-21 to Niclas Nohr and Amalie Magelund (Denmark).Attachments area
