In an interview to The Quint, Farooq Sheikh had told this funny story. In 1973, Farooq Sheikh was asked for the film Garm Hava. He had initially refused to act in the film. Because he didn’t like the script of this movie. But a year later, the producers asked for the film again and at that time, Farooq Sheikh had no work. So he was naturally going to say yes. The producer was willing to pay Rs 750 as honorarium.750 was a huge amount in the 70s. This amount was even more significant for another struggling artist. He said yes to the film just to get more money. In the hot air, Farooq worked hard. The film also won a Filmfare Award. But the producers did not pay any amount as honorarium. They completed the figure by paying Rs 50-100 every year. Surprisingly, it took the manufacturer 20 years to pay Rs 750. He told the producers about it many times. Also threatened legal action. But if the proceedings were prolonged, there was no money to pay the lawyer, so he decided to accept the money and keep quiet. Of course after the hot air he had the opportunity to work in many series and movies.
