Mumbai City FC beat ATK Mohun Bagan to lift their first ISL trophy.
Sergio Lobera’s Mumbai City FC defeated Antonio López Habas’s ATK Mohun Bagan by 2-1 to lift their maiden Indian Super League Trophy at Fatorda Stadium in Goa.
Mumbai City FC earlier topped the league table and secured the ISL season 7 shield along with a direct spot in AFC Champions League.
Mumbai City FC has become the second club after Bengaluru FC to top the league standings and win the title in the same season.
In the 2-1 encounter, David Williams scored the first goal for ATK Mohun Bagan in the 18th minute. 11 minutes later, ATKMB defender Tiri conceded an own goal that made scores level.
In the 90th minute of the game, Bipin Singh Capitalised on ATKMB defensive mistake and scored the winner in the finals.
Mumbai City FC has won all the matches against ATKMB this season.
ATKMB’s defence and Goalkeeper made few errors in the game that cost them the trophy where Mumbai city’s defender Amey Ranawade got injured badly in the match and taken off in the ambulance.
It is the first time; Coach Sergio Lobera has won the Indian Super League Final on the other side ATKMB coach Antonio López Habas lost for the first time in the final.
