Mithali Raj has become the first Indian player to score 10,000 runs in Women’s cricket, across formats.
England’s Charlotte Edwards was the first one to achieve this milestone. While Mithali is the first-ever Indian woman batter to make this record. She achieved this milestone in 311 games, where Edwards finished her career with 10,273 runs in 309 games.
The Indian skipper Mithali Raj made this record in the third ODI against South Africa on Friday. However, she was dismissed on the next ball, where now she will have to wait for more to make a record of becoming the first woman to score 7000 runs in the women’s ODI. She is now 26 runs away to reach the milestone.
Mithali Raj played her debut match for India in an ODI against England in June 1999. So far, she has played 10 Test matches, 212 ODIs, and 89 T20Is.
Many cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar, Wasim Jaffer, VVS Laxman congratulated Mithali for her achievement.
